Anger Stops Effective Communication cold
Angry people are usually unhappy people - frustrated, unsatisfied and forever looking for the worst in situations and other people. Sometimes they are unhappiest with themselves.
None of which is conducive to co-operating with others to find solutions to problems. They play the blame game where you, or someone else, caused the problem, therefore you/they must fix it.
Effective communication cannot exist in an atmosphere of anger.
Angry people are not seeking win-wins, they only want themselves to win. But in fact, angry people do not ‘win’ in the long run, as the old saying goes “they only hurt themselves”. The negative emotions that angry people feel produce different, detrimental chemicals in the body than those of happy people. Stress levels can be raised, also causing the body harm, and they attract negative energy.
Anger can be anything from irritation to outright rages and temper tantrums. Whatever the reasons or provocations, anger is not a pretty sight (how much nicer is a smile). While most people will get angry now and then, it’s the people who are constantly angry, or angry a lot that this page is examining..
